Ten Tiny Breaths- Book Review

Ten Tiny Breaths- K.A. Tucker

Date Read: 5/27/15
Main Characters: Trent and Kacey
Other Characters: Storm and Mia (Kacey’s neighbor and her daughter); Livie (Kacey’s sister); Ben and Nate (bouncers at the club); Cain (club owner); Dan (police officer); Tanner (landlord).
Location: Miami, FL

Kacey is closed off and dark. Her parents, boyfriend, and best friend all died in a car accident four years ago and she doesn’t let anyone in.  She figures as long as she remains closed off, there’s no way she can get hurt any further. Until she meets Trent and all her walls and defenses start going down.

One of my favorite things about this story is that it’s not all about the guy. Kacey begins to heal when she starts to let Storm in through her thick walls. Storm is her next door neighbor and has a young daughter, after putting up a fight Kacey starts to let them in and opens up. By opening up to Storm and Trent, Kacey starts to heal. She starts to see a light at the end of her dark tunnel. Kacey wants to be better for her sister Livie, but she doesn’t believe that she actually has any brightness left inside her.

Trent also has a darkness… Something has happened to him and that leads him to be extra careful with Kacey. He is not willing to ruin this by making any wrong moves. He’s hot and cold but Kacey has too many problems of her own to truly notice and ask about him.

After everything they’re starting to build comes crashing down Kacey and Trent have to rebuild themselves. In order to put each other back together however, they have to stay away and heal on their own. Kacey’s pain and confusion is so clear. She’s still in love with Trent but truly believes she has to hate him. This leaves her torn and she has to get through this major obstacle in order to fully and completely heal.

I absolutely loved this book and couldn’t put it down.
